European vehicle glazing network enhanced in Germany

Automotive Glass Europe® has enhanced its European coverage with the appointment of Autoglas Laakmann as a new partner in Germany. The European alliance now covers 18 countries and provides seamless service for glass repair and replacement throughout Europe.

Autoglas Laakmann operates its own network servicing all of Germany. The organisation joins Automotive Glass Europe® as part of a carefully planned growth programme for the European network, which now boasts 1.500 fitting centres supported by 1.750 mobile technicians.

Automotive Glass Europe® acts as an ambassador for fleets, insurers and leasing companies, providing one consistent brand and quality service to drivers throughout Europe needing repair or replacement of automotive glass.

Autoglas Laakmann’s credentials were quickly put to the test when people at an English military camp needed replacement windscreens for right-hand drive Hyundai vehicles including the i30, Tucson and Sante Fe models.

Albert Falkenberg, the Laakmann general manager who is based at their head office in Gronau, in the western region of Germany, explains: “There are not that many right-hand drive vehicles on the road in Germany and only some of these have windscreens that differ from the left-hand drive versions. Accordingly, most glazing companies based here can only cater for the left-hand drive versions.

“Fortunately we work closely with all car manufacturers. This enabled us to source the right-hand drive windscreens directly from Hyundai’s factory in Germany, instead of asking for help from our colleagues in the UK. This resulted in the jobs being completed much faster than would otherwise have been possible,” he added.

Pim de Ridder, Automotive Glass Europe® general manager, said: “The fact Laakmann has such good relationships with these manufacturers means they are an excellent addition to our network and the company has already shown exemplary service as a real ambassador for the Automotive Glass Europe® network.

“Attention to detail and ensuring customers receive the best possible service is in the blood of our new German colleagues. We are proud to be able to add Autoglas Laakmann to our network which offers unrivalled coverage throughout Europe,” he added.
